N.J. Marathon 2010 (Read 1032 times)

The two-lap aspect can be tough mentally,it certainly was with me.However, the day I struggled with it, another  friend of mine( 51 yrs old and on his second marathon) BQed . If you treat it like a track, you can really maintain a steady pace.

Tater, I am always here for Steamtown.  I have been known to host a runner's hostel for Maniacs doing the Baltimore/Steamtown double and other racers unwilling to pay $200 a night to stay in Scranton.  There is no beach in Scranton and Steamtown is not even close to flat.  (You should still do NJ tho.)

      I'm touching your pants.

This was the course I BQed on.

Any chance you're taking it again?

        Nice...foot.

If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be.  I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila

I am sure I will run it again someday.  I train and run my marathons in the NJ finishers hats.

Yeah I ran it in 2007.  It was nice and muggy that day.  Except for that cliff you run down about 4 miles in I really liked the course.

There is a long dark road ahead of me.

If you ever come into town and wanna go for a run, we can run up that thing if you like.   Good times.

              On On

Here is a much better alternative to some road marathon.

BTW, 20 feet away from the finish line is a BBQ tent and kegs.

                Muddy Marathon

and just for all those that don't want to run a whole marathon just prior to some other goal race, there is a quarter marathon and half marathon option.

Looks like fun.  How did you like it?

                  On On

I personally loved it.  Two things I enjoy, trail running and beer.  This put them together.  Plus I got to hang out with friends (old and new) afterwards in the sun with a beer in my hand.  It was a great day.

Anyone in for the half? the full?

It is now 90 bucks for the half.

I am running the Full ... ran the 1/2 the last 3-years.  I think I may do the 20 miler on 04/11 to check out the changes to the course this year.

I'm leaning towards the Jersey Shore but still not committed. Tim- What are the course changes, and nice race for you yesterday!

                            Jersey Shore Relay?

Thanks for the note -- big change in NYC from Aug heat to yesterday -- much better time of year to be in NYC.  Regarding NJ -- from what I understand, they moved some of the Southern part of the course [maybe down by Deal] and now you go north up the boardwalk ... start south and then turn a western loop out toward [and perhaps all the way to] momouth park] See http://http://www.njmarathon.org/Marathon_Info.html as it has the new map but not the elevation [which you can assume is non-existant.]  They have a 20 miler down there on April 11th so you can check out the course changes.  It bums me out that they announced that change very quietly ... knowning the course gives me [mental] comfort.

                                No.

but I might run the ocean drive marathon this coming sunday.

oh and about the course change/elevation map change.  I would bet the entry fee that it's still flat as a pancake.

                                Bring it on.
