Forums >General Running>Lots of runners in CP last night?
ultramarathon/triathlete
This is probably not at all an interesting post for most people, but if anyone was in Central Park last night, can you shed some light as to why there were so many runners out?
I mean, it was "warm" (44 degrees, warm for January) but there were more runners in the park than on a typical 70 degree summer evening. Way more. Huge packs, but they didn't appear to be in a race. I run most evenings in the park and with my team every Tues/Thursday at the same time (7pm). Last week I saw maybe 5 people. Last night, hundreds if not more!
It was odd.

I dunno. I just opened the thread to figure out what CP meant.
I teach CP English. Students are taking an exam right now.
I thought, "College Prep runners? What does that mean?"
In other words, I have nothing useful to add.
"When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical. Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either. Then willpower will be no problem." Emil Zatopek

The MCP was the bad guy in Tron.
I saw Tron when it first came out. Forgot about it.
Saw it again in the theater (70mm festival) a couple months ago.
And lo and behold, there was the MCP... "Oh my! It's Moses from South Park!!!"
Moses wants you to make popcorn necklaces.
Don't overstride!
Dave,
Did you ever get a useful explanation?
New year's resolutions.
+1. In seriousness, this could very well be it. Even in my little town, I'm seeing double to triple the usual number of runners out and about, many of them whom I'm never seen out before, and I run seven days a week.
