Stand up (Read 1451 times)

Giddyup.

    Stop wearing that Muslim garb when you fly.

    I am going to buy a new suit this afternoon.

    Anyway, my muslim garb is more Malcolm X than Arab.

    When I was a kid, American news spelled it 'Moslem'.  I wonder if there's a definitive day when we decided that phonetically, 'Muslim' is better.  Or whether that was phonetics at all.

    Edited to add: Oh!  Now I know.  For those who are Muslim, lo siento mucho.

    Ultima tastes like failure.

    A Saucy Wench

      Try it the other way.  Stand on your feet all day, every day with no chance for your legs to recover from runs.  Know what it is like to try to get in a night run when it feels like someone took a hammer to the bottom of your feet.  You'll be loving those chairs awfully fast.

      Thats why I prefer the treadmill desk to a standing desk.  Walking slowly is easier on the legs than standing.

        hey, bhearn - is there a word for that type of table? if so... how's it spelled?

        That particular one is a GeekDesk. http://www.geekdesk.com/. I don't know if there's a general term for "motorized height-adjustable desk" other than "motorized height-adjustable desk".

        If you get a GeekDesk, I recommend just buying the frame, and using an Ikea top. Otherwise you're paying a lot for a non-special top.

          That has got to be better than a gleek desk.

            Wow, from this thread I learned a new word and learned about the evolution of another.

              To confuse matters a tad further, in the late 60s I think we referred to Moslems, but at the same time, the rising movement of Black Muslims.  No lo siento mucho.

                Eh, I just swiped that pic from the internet.  I do have some experience with circa-1980 TI mini and a bunch of crappy Data General stuff.  And ye olde AS/400.  Just no pics.

                I am a bit more fastidious than the pic, but I'm not Niles Crane.

                We still use AS/400 at my work     we're so  cutting edge Smile

                  At one point last year, I thought I had the boss talked into getting my an adjustable height work station. He went so far as to call up the office supply guy and get some pricing. With all the budget cuts going on and more on the way, I'm thinking the desk is a no go.

                  2012 Goals:

                  Run = 2000 miles

                  Bike = 3000 miles

                  Swim = 130 miles

                    Huh, I looked everywhere for something like that six months ago, when GeekDesks were backordered for 4-6 weeks (due to being mentioned in one of those NYTimes articles on how bad sitting is for you). Didn't find those. Everything I found was at least 3x the cost of a GeekDesk.
