And there is NOTHING so heavenly as the smell outside the Miller Brewery going through Milwaukee. OMG. I think it's fitting that my first marathon will be in that cool city.

You need to come visit me in St. Louis!! For 4 years I lived three blocks from the Anheuser-Busch Brewery. The days when they were brewing barley were fantastic (smells like fresh bread). The hops days were not as great. But any "Bud" day would be better than Miller!! Come on!!

Come on...it's always Miller time!!

(Excuse me as I hang up my man badge for a moment) I actually don't like beer at all so I can't really compare the two or any beer for that matter, I just have to go with the name. I am strictly a Mike's Hard Cranberry guy.

I know I know.. Embarrassed...what kind of man doesn't drink beer. I wish I did because it's a heck of a lot cheaper than 5 bucks a bottle.

It's funny that something that usually gets thrown away can cost so much. Basically once the berries are juiced they just inject some sugar and flavoring into the wasted hull of the berry and sell it as a craisin. Someone was thinkin'.

Seriously...why didn't I think of that?!

if my memory serves me...Ohio wanted Toledo soooo badly that they gave Michigan the UP for it...go figure....(okay...so it is not exactly accurate).

and you think the yoopers are weird...who would want a garden spot like Toledo?

This is true... good memory Cagery. It was actually a strip of land which became the norther part of the city of Toledo, which is right in my backyard. This was known as the Ohio Michigan War, which was actually a boundary dispute, in which no shots were fired. One of the things Michigan has gotten right in its history... the UP is God's Country and... gave us classics like Da Yoopers and "Escanaba in Da Moonlight".

MTA - I am hanging my head in shame because this post is actually *about* something. Black eye

Out here west of Toledo, we have "S" curves which show where the state line was. It's about 5 miles from the current line. Every road in Fulton County has the curves. They are usually sharp so you go about 15mph around them. I curse Michigan every time I go around them (and other times too) (not really).

Hmmm... how bizarre... I guess I never put 2 and 2 together regarding those curves. Thanks for the edumacation and... sorry for the border displacement.

are these roads going north and south or east and west?? the north and south roads (in michigan too) have these crazy jogs because of the grid lines when they surveyed and laid out the Louisana purchase.
