The list of hopefuls are below on this post.
The qualifiers will be listed on the second post.
The rules will be listed on the third post.
There is a long dark road ahead of me.
Congratulations to our qualifiers ......
The purpose is this thread is for folks to throw their BQ goal out there and get support from others trying to qualify. Here are the rules:
I'm in Spoda.
Disney Jan 10 - sub 3:30 needed
or Southern Indiana Classic Aprill 11 - same 3:30
If the 15th month window will still apply, I actually qualified Nov 7 at Monumental with a 3:27. SOmetimes getting older is a good thing.
IronMan ;)
Count me in!
I need a 3:35 (age up this year YAY!)
I'll be running Steamtown on 10/10/2010 hey it has to be lucky wiht all those "10"s)
I currently have a PR of 3:41 so I figure on a training hard, fast course, smart pacing and staying healthy should get me there, I hope
OK I'm in too! Hope to start running again next week after taking a couple of weeks off to give a problematic hamstring / glute a little time off.
I'll need a 3:45 as I bump up to a new age group next year.
Boston 2010 - 04-19-2010
Maine Marathon - 10-03-2010
New York Marathon - 11-07- 2010
Main and New York are tentative, as long as I can run without any major injuries I'll be there! Hopefully next year will be better than this year.
I'm in.
Put me down for Hartford Marathon on 10/09/10
I need a 3:15 to qualify for the 2011 Boston Marathon, but given that I turn 40 in 2011, a 3:20 will qualify me for 2012.
After failing at Philly...
I'm going to try to BQ at the National Marathon in DC on March 20th. They have a 3:15 pace group, so that's where I'll be!

I'm hoping to BQ in the Amica (Newport, RI) marathon on October 17, 2010.
Previous goals have been sidelined by injury and other obstacles resulting from bad training. Early this year I rebooted my running career, starting off with low mileage, ditching speedwork and increasing very slowly. I've built up a decent base, doing 42 mile weeks now, which I'll increase to 45 and hold until training starts. Long runs are 14 miles, to be increased to 15 in the base. I did a recent half in 1:30:08, and McMillan (for what it's worth) estimates a 3:10:05 marathon effort based on that.
I'm 37, so BQ time is 3:15, but I'd like to get the 3:10 that is so popular with the kids.
------------------------------------- 5K - 18:25 - 3/19/11 10K - 39:38 - 12/13/09 1/2 - 1:29:38 - 5/30/10 Full - 3:45:40 - 5/27/07
I have what may be a dumb question. Does anyone actually know what the qualification times for 2011 will be? As I look at the BAA website I see times listed for the "114th annual" event. But the 114th annual event is 2010.
I would go with the 2010 times. They haven't changed in a few years. And the BAA better not change them because I won't want to make major updates to the list.
Going to run The Cox marathon 5/2/10.
Goal BQ Marathon will Be Hartford In 10/9/10. I need a 3:15:59
Going to give it another shot this year
Hyannis Marathon - Feb 28th, 3:10
and if that doesn't work
Bay State Marathon - October something
Jeff, good luck at Hartford, I ran it this past year. Was a little hotter than expected at the beginning though (75 degrees), probably the best race in terms of organization and getting everywhere. I stayed a hotel across the street from the expo and start line. Very convenient. Oh and the course was a little more challenging than I had expected, second half was a little tougher than the first half.
Bridges in the sky
Hi guys - please count me in as well. I've broken through a long standing wall with my running and racing this year. There are still some reserves left ...
My goal is to BQ in Portland, OR on 10/10/10 with a time of 3:45.
Sun, come shine my way.
May healing waters bury all my pain.
Wind, carry me home.
The fabric of reality is tearing apart.
The piece of me that died will return to live again.
