Has anyone ever done an international marathon before?
I'm going back to school next fall and I have a long trip to Europe planned for next summer. I'd like to run one before going back to school and I know I won't want to run while on vacation. I'd be peaking right around the time I visit Europe so I'm thinking about trying to find one. |

I ran the Paris Marathon in April -- my first marathon. It was a lot of fun and of course a fantastic city. What it lacked in organization (like, port o potties, better planned fuel stops) it more than made up for in atmosphere. The drum line at Bastille Place alone was worth the run!
I arrived a week before the run so I'd have plenty of time to get over jet lag before the race. And planned a trip to the next town the day after so I could recover on the train.
Good luck! |

I've done the Big Sur International Marathon a few times.
And the Big Island International Marathon.
There are tons in Europe. It's a good idea. If you are looking for tips, 1) cobblestones suck, 2) it's semi-hilarious (if you are in the right mood) noticing how many people smoke before/after the race, and 3) in some races, you get water in these little baggie things instead of cups.
Other than that, good luck! |

| Sorry. Not done any International Marathons (I presume that by this you mean "Marathon outside the USA"). Most major marathons will have at least a few international runners. |
