My last name is Fox. In school, one of my nicknames was Foxey (I chose the spelling of the Jimi Hendrix song "Foxey Lady" instead of the spelling of "Foxy Brown")...so this became my User Name / Email Address for everything from about 1993 until about five years ago when spam email became popular.

The "Go Blue" portion is because I went to the University of Michigan. See JeffGoBlue's explanation.

Dude. In the winter of 2005, I went through a two-month period of hard core DAOC addiction. I quit the day I spent an entire weekday playing, starting at 8 in the morning ... and at 4 the next morning was still playing.

Hey Pot, this is Kettle. Quit calling me black. There's a space waiting for your name on the great granite Dork Wall of Fame, too.

Explain "JakeKnight". Does that have some dorktastic, playing-video-games-in-mom's-basement-for-20-hours-straight origin? (I'm guessing it's a Marine Corps thing, though it might be some bizarre MSU-grad spelling-related issue as well.)

Oh good, this is where the geeks explain their screen names.

Dragon76 is a reference to my birth year in Chinese astrology. I didn't post on the RA forums when I first set up my account, and I just chose something easy for me to remember. Had I realized that I would be posting here so much, I probably would have chosen something less cheesy. Or something with Hello Kitty.

I confess a momentary lapse into geekness and I'm roundly mocked. You should all be ashamed.

At least I don't have a frickin' collection of Star Wars figures in my office. You know who you are.

Nothing to explain about the name. The truth is I don't even know or remember how it originated. Years and years ago I picked it up as a sort of pseudonym. I use it as a useless e-mail address (which, of course, is why I give it to you people). So when I first registered at RA a thousand years ago, and it asked for an e-mail address, that was the one I used. And since I have no creativity, I used it for the screen name, too.

At the time, I didn't even know there were forums. Had I known I'd be stuck with the name forever, I would have come up with some thing strikingly witty and original. Like "Trent." Now it does nothing but create confusion, since I get called that more than my real name among runner buddies.

Or ... maybe it was my classified code name when I was undercover for the FBI investigating corruption in the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders organization. I was hired as Coach Knight and spent hard months toiling in the locker rooms and showers, investigating the ring of perky, pig-tailed federal criminals.

One of those is definitely true.

That would make me Dog70. Hmmm, doesn't sound nearly as cool as Dragon.

I was going to ask what "Trent" and others call you when you're out running (if they have to choose between your real name or your Trenternet alter ego, no points for dumbass, etc.)

Heh. We're the same, then....

My name comes from the fact that I was a Cavalry Scout, and "7" was my radio call sign designator.

First running shoes I bought were Sauconys and now I'm back in them again. I LOVE the brand. My real name is Joni so instead of the "ony" at the end of Saucony, I subbed "oni". I probably should have stopped there but somehow I mangled it up with Sock. But then, it's about running, we wear socks, so it all falls into place. Big grin

Mine comes from an online game I used to play called Dark Age of Camelot. In that game, my character used to deliver beatings with a wooden bo staff. He was named, appropriately, Bonkin Noggins. It's been a screen name of mine for years now in many games and fora.

Or I could say that the K key is only 3 to the right of the G key.

I don't remember which answer is more correct.

And yet another mystery solved. "Girls only like guys with bo staff skilz."

I figured since Globule is my Sith name, I shouldn't advertise it so much.. And although I will continue my experiment of Beatles album covers / lyrics to express my mood, I've been cracking up checking out http://snltranscripts.jt.org/ lately, so "Connery" seemed appropriate.
