Quote from zoom-zoom on 5/4/2008 at 3:52 AM:Whatever, Mr. Treadmiller. I ran when it was -8ºF on unplowed roads, man,
Touche....I am a wuss in winter running. I will admit that, but not because of temperature, but because I have really no where to run outside where I live when the roads are crap. Its' too easy to get ran over. I tried to go to the forest preserve a few times but it was too icey, slick, and uneven...very bad for the ankles.
However, I could run for days on end in hell and likely will.
All you have to do is train through a south Texas summer and your fear of running in scorching hot weather is gone. I got to the point I actually enjoyed running in the mid afternoons in 105 deg heat.
It's good for the skin, I think. |

No way, I'll keep my frozen tundra running. 80º and up (which is always high humidity near the lake) and I have a tendency to start feeling queasy, dizzy, and get chilled, even with plenty of Gatorade and water--symptoms of heat stroke. And my asthma no likey that, either--in the cold it's rarely an issue. No thanks. When it's cold I can always put on my clothes to stay comfortable, but when it's too hot...nothing to do.

wooohooo! This was an all-time high week for me too!
MTA: And hot weather is so not good for the skin. As I discovered on my first "hot" run of the year today. It was a glorious sunny day today. I really broke a sweat for the first time since I cant remember when. It was great, it was glorious, and then I got in the shower and remembered that I have now entered the season of all over body-glide. ouch-ouch-ouch-ouch. Everywhere I sweat, I chafe
Oh did I mention the run was 47 when I started and 58 when I stopped? Yeah that is hot for me I am so fucked when summer comes. |

Great job, Ennay! If you need any help in applying the Body Glide and I'm in the area... I'd be glad to help a fellow runner out. |
