I am new to the website and have had a long term injury to my tendon that stretches from the heel of my foot to my big toe on my left foot. On the tendon ~1/3 of the way down from the big toe to the heel I have a bump that is about the size of a small marble. I have had it looked at by a podiatrist in which he said that it was a buildup of calcium around my tendon and he said as long as it doesn't hurt me that bad I should keep away from surgery (In which I agree a lot, I love to run too much to risk foot surgery). At first he recommended shoe inserts but that only increased the size of the bump and agitated the spot more. I have been using a topical cream called Nifedipine, prescribed by the doctor, in which it helped shrink the bump but has not taken away the bump totally, and actually increased the amount of pain in the area. I think it probably took away some of the buildup of calcium and exposed the injury to the tendon, thus increased the pain. It feels really good to massage the spot but it does not stop the pain.
Has anyone had a similar injury like this and if so what did it take to alleviate the pain if not get the problem fixed?
