Wegman's Marathon Bread (Read 1463 times)

I look my best blurry!

I love it (and the inspiration name) and I don't live anywhere near a Wegman's.  Does anyone have the recipe or know how I can have it shipped to me?  Considering a road trip to the closest store.

    No offense.

For those of us who don't even know what a Wegman's is, what is "marathon bread"?

      Ultima tastes like failure.

I've never had the bread but Wegman's rules.  You can live there.

There is a long dark road ahead of me.

          Sounds awesome!

          Some of the ingredients include:
White flour, WW flour, rye flour, flaxseeds, sunflower seed, pumpkin seeds, oats, carrots, apples, banana chips, honey molasses and sesame seeds, yeast, salt, water.

Can you play around with a basic bread recipe and add in the other goodies?

Mmmmm!  I'd love a slice of that right now toasted with PB.

I just came in from my run and I'm hungry!

Yeah baby! This is my whole reason for needing this bread.  I have to break my graham cracker and peanut butter (Smuckers natural honey roasted or Whole Foods fresh ground) addiction.  The marathon bread would be more nutritious.  Note to self, early next week, road trip to Erie Pa.  I'll play around with a recipe after I have several loaves in the freezer.

Do you have a Great Harvest Bread Company in your area?

They have a lot of these types of breads(whole grainy with yummy add ins).

I bought a loaf of breakfast blast there a few weeks ago that was loaded with yummy things like dates, pecans and cinnamon.

Oh, and they make some pretty fantastic 100% whole wheat dinner rolls.

Here is the link to the company.  There is a store locator.

Bummer, no.  More road trips!   Boardman OH is 46 miles.  Closer than Erie to Pittsburgh.

I'm from Rochester, the home of Wegmans.  In fact I live about 3 miles from their headquarters.  I live less than 1 mile from a Wegmans.

I've long considered moving out of New York state.  Honestly one thing that keep me here is Wegmans.  I know they are as far south as the DC area so I've limited my (non-serious) home searching that far south.
