my new favorite thing (Read 956 times)

Lately I've been putting a bottle of gatorade in the freezer a few hours before my longer runs so it's all slushy by the time I'm ready to drink it. It's amazing Big grin Today's was grape and now my tongue is blue.

Grape Gatorade is my favorite flavor. Does anyone know if there is a powdered version of that? Freezing it is a good idea. Are you freezing it in the bottle it comes in, or in a sport bottle of some sort?

I've just been freezing it in the bottle it comes in, but if you found the powdered kind I'm sure a some sort of reusable bottle would also work.

MMM, that sounds good! Recently I've been buying slurpees, but I don't like soda, and they're carbonated, so I've been putting them in the freezer for a day, then letting them sit on the counter for an hour and eating them with a spoon when I have some down time... it makes them totally flat and it's like a giant snowcone for half the price! Totally awesome! You should fill your empty gatorade bottles with slurpee and refreeze! haha
Yeah, I started doing that a few weeks ago, when I got tired of drinking warm fluids during my long run. Love it.

Not that I have seen, the Gatorade Endurance Formula is only Lemon Lime, and Orange ( Dead )..... I would love to find the Endurance in a Grape Flavor...

Ooh that sounds yummy! Gotta try that. My favorite is lemon-lime. Used to like orange but for some reason that upsets my stomach a bit now. Zoom, I'm pretty sure I've seen the "Fierce Grape" in a powder. I never buy pre-made as I avoid HF corn syrup like the plague!

Whatever you do, don't mix vodka with gatorade. It blows.

I can't imagine it's much better than Tang and Vodka....it doesn't make as good as a screwdriver as you would think. Oh the memories of college.
slurpees are carbonated?! wow... I never imagined they would be. Curious. I've always thought they would just be ice and flavour, never had one but now I'm sort of wondering about the sensation of ice and fizz. Neat.

haha, yeah, all slurpees are carbonated. It's their trademark feature. I've never liked soda but when I flatten them and get rid of the fizz they're sooo sugary, it's like a party in my mouth! Big grin Tongue EDIT: I found a slurpee facts page! haha. http://www.slurpee.com/Slurpee101/Facts.aspx 8th fact from the top "Slurpee drinks are carbonated."
Grape gatorade definitely does come in powdered form - at least at my local supermarket its the only other option to Lemon-Lime. But what I've found works pretty well is filling up a Nalgene bottle (i just use the classic 1 L bottles) about halfway, making the gatorade mix, and just freezing it for about 2 hours. I still haven't found the exact timing, but its somewhere around there. If the ice crystals are a little too big, just try shaking it up to break them down a little bit.
