Has anyone used the Furminator for brushing their cats? The brush I have really only works well on the one of the cats 'cause the rest have such fine hair. I'm tired of living in a shower of cat hair and am on the verge of shaving them all. (Not really, but you get the picture.)
Anyway, I've heard the Furminator works really well. Does it?
Cripes - I just looked it up. The frigging thing's $50!
Any other brush folks have had success with?

It's amazing...except our cat who actually needs it (long-haired...we suspect he's at least part Persian from his build and fur type) doesn't like it. We brush him as much as possible with a softer-bristled brush (he doesn't like the wire ones, either), but that doesn't keep the mats in check. As a result we invested in a $$ vet-quality Oster clippers and shave his torso at least once/year.

• punch Type 1 in the junk, again
The web site says they have ones for short and long haired cats. We have 4 short, 1 long. Do you know if the short haired one will work on the long-haired.
I don't think there were 2 versions when we bought ours. Ours has a purple handle, if that helps. It seems to work well on our shorties. Hmm...perhaps it's not ideal for Thor. That could be why he doesn't like it. I'm going to have to look into that.
Thanks, Kristen.

That thought has crossed my mind...
Oh yeah - mine, as well. The hairy little $astards.
The zoom groom - is it hard to clean? Seems like it'd be hard to get the hair off the rubber. I gotta be quick and to the point with all but one of my cats or they'll freak. They just don't understand the fine art of all-purposes grooming. And someone keeps puking up giant furballs, so something's gotta give.

it is very easy to clean. the cat hair clings nicely till you pull it off.
i bought mine for my lab. lab hair doesn't cling just flies every where.
