And I bet I pee at least 15 times in the 24 hours

Again it not if you or I were faster ... its how close you are running to your top speed. Semi-elite is funny - I am no where near good enough to be even half that.

it feels like I'm running as fast as i can possibly run. I probably am not.
I won't callyou semi-elite. How about damn fast? And able to run a long long long time. I can't stay away for 24 straight hours while sitting in a chair.

Sometimes I'll get the urge jogging during the first mile of an easy run, but not always. Fortunately there's plenty of large honeysuckle bushes to duck behind when this happens. During higher levels of exertion on runs and cycling days, my digestion and other "urges" seem to cease. But when I'm done, I've gotta have food then and there.
I would suggest finding out what causes your body to think it's in that "fight or flight" mode. I know it's difficult to be at a higher level of exertion during a long race. That's just not the point of that type of run so this problem might not ever go away for some.
You could always get one of these.
Giant Flaming Dork
An easy solution, which I can't bring myself to try.
In cycling circles, I believe it's called 'comportement incorrect"...
