I'm considering running the Disney HM next January. I'm SO not ready yet, but with a year to train, who knows. It's something to aim for.
I went to their web site and noticed that the "Goofy" is already 3/4 full?
Does anybody know when the half and full registration fill up?
If you ran it, when did you sign up? |

I ran the full and my wife ran the half. I am doing the Goofy next year.
Take a look at this message board for some good information. http://www.disneyrunning.com/forum/index.php
From this thread, it filled up on June 1 last year. It seems to be even quicker this year as it was 60% full on March 21 last year and is almost to that point now.

I would sign up soon. A year is plenty of time to train for a half marathon. And once you sign up you will be committed, and that will be a great motivation to get out there and train.
Here is a good novice training plan: http://marathontraining.com/faq/faq_hm.html. It is a 23-week plan including a mileage buildup schedule, so that means you would start in late July. Between now and then you would just try to get comfortable running 15 miles per week. Looking at your log, it seems like you're well on your way.
Good luck.

Thanks! This is the first plan I've seen that is longer the 8-12 weeks. It's a little scary to look ahead at the plan to see 5 runs a week, at high mileage.
But, how amazing if I can actually do it! |
