Three and half weeks out- how's everyone's training going?

I'm starting to think that I'm going to shoot for 1:45, maybe 1:40.

Sadly, I'm going to have to bail on it this year. Angry I seem to have injured my knee while skiing, and then I ran 40 miles on it the week that I got back. At this point, running just 4 miles means my 2-year old son can get down the stairs in our house (safely) faster than I can. Looks like I'll be stuck on the bike for the next month or so.

Sorry to hear that, Michael. Hopefully you will recover in time for El Scorcho. FWRC site says registration opens soon.

I have not been sticking to my training plan that well. Training plan was to run a bunch of 10Ks, a long, and have 1 to 2 rest days each week.

Last weekend, I got to met Ultrarunner/Ultrawalker/Marshall at the Benbrook Half Marathon. It was the first race where I felt hungry during the race. That race let me with a nice headache and a little nausea. I need to figure out the whole hydration/nutrition thing for myself.

This weekend, I am planning on doing a 20 miler in NW Fort Worth. It will be my longest run thus far.

Positive Points for January 2008
-Ran over 100 miles for the month
-Broke my prior HM and 25KM times

Just saw the elevation chart on the Bid D post. That appears to be on shorter steep hill followed immediately by a longer incline starting near the 5 mile marker. Is it as bad as it looks?

The elevation chart I got from the 10K so that's what the 5 mile mark is referenced to. The end of the 10K is the same as the HM/Marathon/UltraMarathon.

The course was designed to ease the corralling. Big grin

Modal. Make sure to install some form of nipple protectors. Just sayin'. I can't have you puking AND bleeding. You are only allowed to do one.

Well, I did not bleed on the 20 miler, but I think that's cause I swapped shirts.

Puking? Dead I hope this doesn't happen.

I'm hoping it gets down into the 50s with no to light wind.

My plan this week
-10K to 8 miles: Monday Tuesday and Wednesday
-Rest time: Thursday and Friday
-Cowtown: Race and consider getting a 32oz Tecate afterwards to chill Cool

Any of you all want to get together before the race to say hello?

Sounds good. I'm not sure where a good meet up point would be, but I'm going to the expo Friday evening and will post somewhere that looks easy to find for everyone. I may or may not be wearing my RA shirt depending on the weather - which by the way is still looking good - except for the wind.

Band-Aid Tough Strips. That's all I'm going to say.

I'm going to meet some friends and my Team in Training group in the lobby of the Worthington Hotel which is just a couple of blocks from the start. A lot of people may have the same idea but seems like a good place to try and meet.

Good luck this weekend, gentlemen (and ladies). Especially those attempting their first.

I expect race reports by Saturday night. Pictures included. Bonus points for bloody nipples.
