I need a pep-talk!

I remember seeing you at Lake Benbrook Half (OK, OK, truth be told, I remember seeing you pull away from me at Benbrook and leaving me in your dust). You're going to have a great race. Just remember, when the going gets tough, "Suck it up, buttercup!"

Ed - Thanks for the cheer! Hopefully your saying will do us all some good.

Streetch - good to hear you are in! Hopefully we will see you at the meet up or during the race.

JK - Definitely pumped and started my patented Ravioli and Marlboro Light tapering process about thirty minutes ago.

Lynn - Good luck at Cross Timbers! I thought I saw some where you are doing the 50 miler? I will keep that in mind when I get tired late in the race for some self-HTFU motivation!

Steve - I'll try to follow your advice. Would letting the finish line photographer know that I think he is "number one" be appropriate?

Modal - I think Lynn and Marshall gave you a fantastic pep talk. The only thing I have to add - is do the same thing you did in your last half - only for twice as long. You'll do fine.

I'm yellow bib #147. Good luck to all and hope to see you tomorrow!

I approve. But keep it to no more than 2 packs and do some light stretching while you smoke. All the ravioli you can eat. Carbo-loading and all that.

Run like the wind like Jessica Alba is waiting at the finish line with a case of beer and some bikinis she wants to try on for you.

Just polished off the 6 pack of Bass Pale Ale; switching to water. I'm nervous and excited. I should have bought more beer.

My half marathon will be run in the memory of Senior Cpl. Victor Lozada of the Dallas Police Dept.

Can't sleep. Hate that pre-race excitement/anxiety.

Good luck, everyone!

I had a decent sleep. Woke up around 4 and just rolled in bed for a while (anxious). Finally got the run off my mind.

See you all out there. I'm bringing a camera. hopefully, the battery retains some charge.

That was fun. Sorry I missed the meet, I didn't make it downtown until 7. I was wearing an orange tee over black cold gear...
Going to post a quick report.

The meetup just was mbk, bonkin, and myself.

I finished a little over 5 hours and am happy I completed it even if I had to do some run walking.

I had a little breakdown for several miles after mile 17. The balls of my feet started aching, knees felt like they wanted to bend the other way, and my hands swelled up. I had some guts were upset for a little bit too.

My initial pains after my first half were more substantial then this marathon. Happy to report at the moment I don't really have any stomach issues will see how the recovery goes.

I write a TMI report later Big grin.

I second that! Good job HTFUing. Look forward to a more complete report.

I finished the 50k in 5:34. I hit the wall around 23 and had to walk more than I wanted. The first half went exactly as planned, just need to work on my endurance. But I finished and actually feel very good (no major aches or pains, no blisters). Hard to believe it was about 38 when I started and the clock said 60 about 20 minutes before I finished. My shirt is crispy with sweat and salt.

Good seeing you guys before the race.
