Still the most inspirational runner to me. He never wondered if he went out too fast

It's funny that both movies portrayed him as basically an arrogant jerk. Maybe true. Never met the guy. Certainly was refreshing to see him run, though.
"Ultramarathon Man" features a H.S. gym coach who gives the author the following advice for running the big meet's mile: "Go out fast, and just keep running." Then, after winning, the coach asks him, "How was it?" The author replies, "Felt pretty good," while buckled over sucking air. The coach replies, "Then you did it wrong. It's supposed to hurt like hell." Reminded me of Pre.

Wow- he'd still be out there running like a demon. Stoped by his memorial last May.
