I"m BACK first run since May 2009- geez (Read 1522 times)

De-slacking in progress

Looked at my logs on here. I basically quit running in May 2009 after running around 20-40 mpw. Even ran a half marathon.

Gained 40 of the 70# that I lost while running before.

So I'm starting as a noobie again. The difference is that I'm smarter this time around. I'm sticking to the C25K program this time and give my 49 yr old body time to adjust as I slowly lose these 40# ++++

I did tear my calf muscle (non running related) and its been sore for a year. Today after my first walk/run/walk it feels great.

So today I took that first step and put one foot in front of the other and RAN (sort of)

Today ran/ walk 2 miles-  I'll be back up to 14 miles at once.(ha)

Still want to run a marathon when I turn 50 next year.

FEELS great to get going again!

started running @ age 48 [lost 70#+, quit a 30 year pack/day habit>> ran HM]  Ran a few years then quit. Gained 70#+ back and smoking like before. Time to get healthy again @ 52 years over with the C25K program and beyond again. RE-start date 1-13-14

Welcome back!  It's never too late to get back at it.

Other than a marathon within a year, it sounds like you've got a plan for easing back into it.  I think of C25K as an overtraining prevention plan, stick with it despite the inevitable temptation to do more.

Nice to see your post, best of luck with your training!

Just because running is simple does not mean it is easy.

                          Welcome back,

                          I made a come-back this week too

I too realized if I ever want to complete a marathon I suppose I should get back into the game Wink

I will add that I gained half the weight back that I originally lost by taking up running too.   Gained 15 of 20.

So Good Job on your C25K plan.

                          I'm doing LHR training myself.

My soonest marathon will probably be 2014, but I'm aiming to do a few HM's in the 12 months and take it from there.
