Forums >Off the Beaten Path>Costner running movie - McFarland USA
Going by the trailer, it seems to have potential.. McFarland USA.
Looking forward to it...
And you can quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. Groucho Marx

I'd guess like many sports movies, if you know something about the sport there will be some hard to watch scenes.
Fortunately I know nothing about running.
Perhaps it will generate some interest in the sport amongst the yutes.
not bad for mile 25
Cool, found a review here.
There's a quick discussion of the movie in the RT that I just got in the mail yesterday. Sounds like it will be okay. Of course, some things were over Hollywoodized (like the dude started coaching in '80, but the didn't win State until '87, or something like that but in a Hollywood movie of course it all has to happen in one season), but it sounds like on the whole it will be OK.

We are fragile creatures on collision with our judgment day.
Good enough for a running movie. Ain't gonna be no Dances With Wolves though.
It's gotta be better than Matthew McConaghey inBorn To Run.
Good enough for me. I'm a sucker for the feel-good stuff.
Thank god.
Ready, go.
like the dude started coaching in '80, but the didn't win State until '87,
effin' slacker!
Runners run
Looks good enough for a corny high school running movie. Ain't gonna be no Bull Durham though!
You're gonna have to learn your clichés.
Ain't gonna be no Bull Durham though!
Let's hope not...
Bah. Costner hasn't done anything halfway decent since ... Waterworld. Well, maybe The Postman but that's IT. Everything else has been crap.
Oof, Waterworld! I remember that as a terrible movie! I vaguely recall being surprised by how much I liked Bull Durham.
