I'm going to Toronto to visit family, and am wondering if there are some soft and safe trails/paths that would be easily accessible. I'll be in North York. I would rather not run on pavement. Thanks for any info |

| North York is very big, but I'd suggest running along the Don River without knowing where exactly where you're living. Trails in Toronto are easy to find: just look for the green space on a map. |

More importantly, what are the best local brews? I'll be in Toronto this week for business and need some recommendations for some good recovery beers. |

| I don't drink, but you can't go wrong in the St. Lawrence Market area on Front Street, east of Yonge. That's probably also reasonably close to where you'll be for work. |

I drink wine, not beer, but try Steamwhistle Brewery products, a local micro brewery. (Available at a bar near you.) Simon. |

I don't run on trails (I plan to start this summer) but there are a few maps here that might help. Toronto has a great trail system.

This might be a good place to start. Ontario Craft Brewers
I live in the east end of Toronto so I can't really speak for any of the great drinking holes in the west or north of the city.
To be honest that only of the Toronto area brews that I've had is Mill Street. I've had many of their beers and they are very nice.
I enjoy.... - Mill Street Tankhouse Ale - Mill Street Coffee Porter
Mill Street Brewery
Other places in or around downtown Toronto to have a beer... - Favorite place to have a Guinness - Dora Keogh/Allen's - Second favorite place to have a Guinness - My Couch - Third favorite place to have a Guinness - Irish Embassy Pub/P.J. O'Briens (ignore the cheesie tune when the site loads.
"The Esplanade" has a few spots to have a beer. - Fionn McCools, also a good place to have a Guinness - A lot of people like this place but it does nothing for me. Lot of beer options though Bier Markt
We all love beer.... but I also love wine and great food and since we are now on the Esplanade you would be missing a great meal if you take a pass on my favorite wine bar in the city. Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar (not the comedian). I love this place, its tapas style. Jamie Kennedy is close to the St. Lawrence Market and always has a seasonal menu. Here are a couple of menu items that come highly recommended. - Poutine (I like the lamb poutine but it is switched up, the pulled pork poutine is nice too) - Duck Comfit, can you ever go wrong? - The Cheese Plate - I'm also a sucker for the Entrecôte of Beef - My wife had a great gnocchi there earlier this week.

Thanks for the map and the links. I haven't been able to get out much since being here. I was able to sample a few Rickard's red at the hotel lounge last night. I had a few of the Steamwhistle's last time I was here. |

Jason pegged it with the map link for the trails. I'm in mid-town / North York and run a lot of trails. It really depends on how far you want to run and how much you mind hills. The Gardner is fairly level but not terribly long. I will usually link it to other trails and you can get up to about a 21k on nothing but trails doing it that way.
As for the beers... dude... Mill St. Brewery. If you like dark beers their Tankhouse Ale is at least two notches ahead of Bass. When I lived in the U.S. I used to have to scour local stores to find one that carried Road Dog ( man I miss that beer ), but Mill St. Tankhouse is pretty close. They have a large range of other beers as well, and the restaurant is pretty good too. |
