Perfect (But Lesser Known) Songs that get your Ipod Poppin! (Read 897 times)

Walk-Jogger

I don't have an Ipod anymore or listen to music while running unless it's on the house speakers at the Rec center, but I think I could put KD Lang's version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah on a loop and run a marathon to it, and pretty sure I'd run a PR.

        Conquest of Paradise - Vangelis

I never run with music, but I listen to this sometimes before a run. Someday, I'll be standing at the start of UTMB and won't have to hit play, it will already be blasted.

Holy crap, Cecil and Jack Frost, I can't believe it.   I hadn't visited this thread in weeks, but in the past couple days, I have been listening to KD Lang, Leonard Cohen, and my favorite of all time, Vangelis.    I honestly didn't think there were more than three folks on the entire earth who listened to any of those artists anymore.

I listen to Leonard Cohen on long runs, and I listen to some Vangelis as well.  ("Direct" and "Oceanic" albums.)  Conquest of Paradise one of my favorites, but another great song from the 1492 album:

Also on a similar line, most folks may have not heard of the group "Moodswings" from about 1991, but if not, many great songs by them on this album.  Some faster paced, some more like this one:     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CdnrmHzHMo&list=PLD128810C9CF89052

                  Beatles - Oh, Darling!

It has 180bpm. I can remember the song well enough so if i play it in my head I can roughly check my cadence.

The chorus is stuck in my head... it may have nothing to do with running, but sounds perfect for a marathon:

                              My body tells me no

                              but I won't quit
