My oldest started running with me in July. He entered 7th grade this fall and joined the XC team. He has cut over a minute and a half off his 3k race time in a month. We just got a text from his coach yesterday. He's goin to the State Championship meet!
they have a great team and a great JH/HS program. He'd have to PR by 2:00 to figure into team scoring, but I'm awfully proud that he was even invited. Should be great experience for next year when he will have 5 times as much running experience.

You could be at the beginning of a very interesting 6 years (through the high school years)
My DS started track as an 8th grader then XC as a freshman. His running got me back into it. DW and I attended many XC and track meets over those 4 years. Great fun and warm memories.
