alarm system impacting heart rate? (Read 83 times)

HobbyJogger & HobbyRacer

If my heart rate flutters when my neighbor's alarm system goes off, is that dangerous? Should I see a doctor?

I'm not an expert with the heart rate monitor, but this seems concerning.

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Sounds like you should see the police.  Or move.  Why is their alarm going off?

Are you burglarizing your neighbors' place?  Alarms under such circumstances have been known to cause heart palpitations.

Well at least someone here is making relevance to the subject.

I can totally fix this with some duct tape and a roll of tin foil.

Is it simply that the alarm goes off and you get startled?

Is their alarm going off a lot?  If so, I'd speak to the neighbors.  There not enough info in your post to deduce much.

How are you defining HR flutter? Swiss bio-physiatrist Ulrich Studer uses the age+ 216.7/duration(seconds)^3 rule of thumb. Polar is working on an attachment to measure, but in the meantime you may have to do it manually. Good luck. This can be scary stuff.
