Another way to buy DRM-free music (Read 553 times)

If you're looking for another way to get a hold of some tunes, you should check out eMusic. eMusic's deal is this: You pay $10 a month, and get 30 downloads. (That's the basic program. There are better ones. This one works out to $0.33 per track.) All downloads are 192kbps MP3, so there's no DRM and the quality is very good. There aren't any major labels represented. It's mostly smaller labels and indie artists, as well as older artists (50~70's). Jazz is also very well represented. You can try for two weeks and cancel, and you'll still get 25 free downloads. There's a lot of techno/dance stuff, so if you're just looking for a good beat to run to, you can probably load up on a lot of anonymous music of this sort pretty easily. If you stick with it, be sure to use your downloads within the month -- they don't roll over. Cheers, Jeff
