Next year's curriculum for our two home-schooled kids - $700.
A little fun money for the wife and me. I've had my eye on a new pistol. |

| Quote from Ben_1415 on 4/29/2008 at 3:20 PM: Anybody know where all this money is coming from? It would seem to me that while we're spending tens of millions of dollars per day in Iraq and Afganistan, shouldn't we be paying more taxes?
Then again, I'm no economist. I don't know much.
But, to the original question posed, I'll probably donate it to some Vetern's charity. I feel like I should be doing something.
The federal government is borrowing it in the form of government bonds, just like the rest of the federal debt.
So to answer your question, we're probably getting most of it from the Chinese government. I wish that weren't true.
And I bought a big screen TV (LCD), transferring the money back to China |
I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Dave Barry wrote the best description of the economic stimulus plan I've seen:
Q. What is an Economic Stimulus Payment? A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money? A. From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own money? A. Only a smidgen.
Q. What is the purpose of this payment? A. The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China? A. Shut up. |

I wish you lot would hurry up and spend your money because a the momentl fear of a recession in the USA is destroying the banking system in the UK.
I think they were quoting mortguage products being withdrawn form the market at about 90 per day.
Current maximum loan to property value ratio is about 75 % which is making it impossible for any first time buyers to find a house they can afford.
And while the base rate is falling interest rates on home loans is rising !
So if you would be so good as to to go out and have a great big spend up that would be much appreciated

| We aren't going through a recession. The media is just trying to get more people to tune in and watch their commercials so they keep telling us that we are. |

It may not be a recession but ther is a world wide credit shortage because of the subprime lending situation in the US.
Surely your own government dishing out cash would suggest something is not quite as it should be?
Ultimately I dont care either way I just dont like the idea of my mortgage going up by approx £90.00 per month despite base rates going down.
Have a good one

DH and I are structural engineers, so we are in the construction industry. So far this year, we are doing well over 50% more business than last year at this time. I think it's our best year ever, actually. When we talk to other people in the area, we hear the same thing from them. So maybe we're just lucky, but the slow-down is not affecting us at all. We work on commercial, industrial, governmental, and residential projects.
