He says I'm going to have that runners' look, loose skin that saggs, skinny legs, all wrinkled because I run in the sun, etc, etc, etc...

MY DH hates that he can't run anymore (a degenerative neurological disorder) so he's happy to run vicariously through me. He totally cheers me on.

So far, I'd say that he can't stand how much I talk about it. I try not to, but I get so excited when I get back from a run. It's either him or the cats. I almost feel bad for the poor guy. My friends and the rest of my family are safe though. I tone it down more with them.

She would probably say she hates listening to me talk about running, or worse, making her join me on a run.

I would often come home all excited because I would run some distance in some time and my wife would sense my excitement and say. "Wow! That is great." Later I tested her and came home and said that I ran a PR - 5K in 1 hour 56 minutes! She told me how proud she was. This proved she had no concept of running times, so I made her memorize my PR's. This ended up backfiring on me because now I can't even come close. Oh well.! Cry

Oh, this one's easy: "How can you need new $100 shoes? You just got new ones eight weeks ago!" This is just about getting more shoes!"

Well, not exactly . . .

My economic stimulus deposit should be in this week... already planning to order a new pair or two. My wife isn't too happy about that since I just ordered a pair earlier this month. Big grin

I think she misses the time we used to spend together watching TV after the kids are in bed. These days that is the only time I have to run. Good news is that she started the C25k program yesterday. Anyone have an idea of a small gift I could get her to encourage her to stick with it?

How about a simple heart rate monitor?

Or maybe a log book if she's not doing it online.

Could you ask her to think up a bigger reward for finishing the program? That's what DH did for me, and it really helped on those days I got discouraged.

dh doesn't hate that I go running. he knows that running puts me in a good mood, so he looks forward to that. it doesn't bother me that he plays tennis.

MTA: it doesn't bother me that he plays tennis with girls in tennis skirts either, not that he is interested.

Thanks! Those are good ideas. I think I may get her a log book and some tech shorts.

I was thinking i about getting her an ipod as a "graduation" present.

My DW only really doesn't like when I am on here all night long. But other than that she likes that I run because it puts me in a much better mood. She did tell me that she is jealous of me because I have something that I am excited about and she wishes she had something like that. She's a former ballet dancer and we can't afford classes for her and that's about all that she really is passionate about. I have tried to get her into running but she hates it. Someday maybe she will come around. Smile

My fiance just started the C25K too. I never even thought about a "graduation" present. Cry Thanks for the idea!

has she thought of initiating a group for ballet dancers
Meetup is a good place to go to do that.
