| Quote from Lisa3.1 on 4/29/2008 at 3:38 PM: has she thought of initiating a group for ballet dancers Meetup is a good place to go to do that.
So I doubt that she would do it but I'll run it by her. She lacks self motivation.... For example: I told her that if she set up dance lessons (ballroom or swing) for us I would go with her and not complain about them. It never happened so I was looking through the paper and found some community dance lessons for us and gave her the paper and said all you have to do is call and I will be there. Let's just say I still do not dance.

I do not have a lover/wife/serious life partner… however… Friend of mine, who I kind of fancy and who also runs for recreation, told me I should cut back. I believe she thought I had some form of running addiction when we first started going out.
I've been taking basic formal dancing and what I found funny is there is another single guy in there that runs! In fact, he has been at the last 2 races I’ve been in; a relay and 10k.

| this post has made me realize that my husband is very supportive of my running. The only grumbling that I've heard every once in awhile is the money spent on races. |

My gf is actually really proud and supportive. I'm lucky. She's an athlete, herself, but hates running. I went on a bike ride with her once, and even though she slowed down for me, I ended up yakking in my mouth trying to push up a hill. She was totally fine. So we respect each other's brands of hardcore-ness. |

| DH is torn... he supports my running, even helps me schedule long runs on weekends. But he doesn't like how much time it takes, I'm gone for 2-3 hours at a stretch during the weekend days, and some evenings mid-week. Also, he thinks I spend wayyy too much time here on RA (and other sites). And I like to travel to marathons so there's a lot of $$ spent on travel. We make them mini vacations, but the cost really does add up. (I've had my nice run of marathons and races though, so this year will cut back to mostly local runs. That should help...) |

Yeah, in spite of his griping about the shoes, my Garmin was his gift to me on my complaining of a horrible performance in a 10k . . . kind of a "I know you can train for a half" gift. So I know he is supportive.
I've tried to get him to wear it, but to him it makes him run too fast. Funny. It does exactly the opposite for me. |

The time away from her (the kids are grown and gone) the late night suppers (my weekday runs are after work) planning healthy meals (she's a junk food junky) planning events around my running running when we're on vacations my weight lost (she's so jealous) and most of all, the number one thing that she hates about my running is that I meet lots of ladies who share the same interest. (She's even more jealous)
But in reality, she is very supportive of me. |

Quote from Tchuck on 4/27/2008 at 2:32 AM:Her claims that running is bad for my knees (never had a knee issue) and her claims that I am obsessed/addicted with running (I do 20-25 miles per week). Is that obsessed???
I get that "addiction" accusation myself. I run between 17 - 22 miles per week. We have run together, and I have enjoyed that, but she is often frustrated because she feels like she's slowing me down. The thing is, I CHOOSE to run with her because I enjoy her company. I run at her pace so that we can be together. I am also proud of the fact that she's making the effort to get in shape. |

loves that when I go out during the week that it HAS to be early so I am usually showered and dressed before the kids get up...so I can get them up and ready and let her have her time in the morning.
she hates that is it is the weekend that I will leave during the middle of the day and leave her at home with the kids by herself with nothing to do at times |

Same here. I give her a kiss before my run because I'm not allowed to kiss her when I get back. Her first words after I get back from a run are "don't touch me until you've had a shower".
