I just started running again and after a couple of minutes my shins really start to hurt. They start hurting so bad that i cant finish a mile. Usually if i take a faster pace, it takes longer for the pain to start but eventually it does. After i am done running i can see the muscle in my leg swell and i have to stretch it out for the swelling to go away. Maybe I need new shoes or my foot is landing the wrong way?

Hi,

Since this question comes up ALOT on the boards, if you do a forum search ( upper right corner) about shins, you will find plenty of information from lots of runners whom have experienced all that you are dealing with now. I am sure your question will be answered in one of the many threads that will come up.

Good Luck,
