2010 Goal of Sub 4:00 Marathon (Read 3385 times)

    Great job, well done!

60 miles, including a 1:37:28 half marathon.  Way off my goal of sub-1:35. But it's a PR and seems to be a rough equivalent of sub-3:30 (my goal).

      No medium long runs (again).

Prefer to just stay positive and keep working away.

NaderAlfie, with that mileage you're complaining about no medium long runs?  My rule is HM time x 2 + 20 minutes.  For someone proportionally faster such as yourself, that would be something like HM x 2 + 17 minutes.  Striking range.

Alternative rule:  "Whatever McMillan says" + 10 minutes (for me, that is)

OK, I read through the whole list and we have Kanata37, MichiganRon and nickel going sub-4 with authority.  I think I'll put them on an honor roll in the first post.  Great running!

        Are there any more?

Hey Econo, I'm not counting any unhatched eggs this year.  Last year I thought I had sub-4 all but bagged.

Anyways, what do you think of making a fancy list in your opening post, like sub-3 people have.  Lists are important.  They are proof that something happened.  Lists.

Nice work, Nader. You are so going sub 4 this fall.

Looks like you're back up near the 50s again.  Nice.

thats the nature of the marathon, she is a fickle mistress. that said:  my money is on you going under 4 this fall, well under 4, to be clear.

"As a dreamer of dreams and a travelin' man / I have chalked up many a mile. / Read dozens of books about heroes and crooks, / And I've learned much from both of their styles." ~ Jimmy Buffett

"No," said Pooh humbly, "there isn't. But there was going to be when I began it. It's just that something happened to it along the way."”

Looks like you're back up near the 50s again.  Nice.

I had a rough patch there, life just got in the way.  But I'm back and ready to take this all the way. I just hope those low weeks don't ruin my chances.

From what I gather, a few weeks won't make or break anything. Keep hacking away.

                      Thanks, A1.

                      What does Tunis make?

                        Great list at the front!

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

The list is up -- page 1.

Next up is Rozzie -- GO!

It was fun re-reading all the posts.  Am lacking (or inadvertently missed?) data for a few people.  Help me fill in the blanks.  October 3rd will be a busy day for us...

Amores Perros, there was a van at Hood to Coast with your name painted on the side (like how they paint the team members' names, you know?), so I stuck my head in the window and said "Who is Amores Perros?"  They all gave me confused looks.  Then I had to explain that "I know someone from a running forum online whose name is...oh never mind...hello, I'm a dork..."

                              And a movie!

                              Ultima tastes like failure.

                                Thanks, Econo.  I'm doing Baystate.
