He's a native son so it's all over the news here, but I'm kind of the opinion if you say you're going to retire and do it, stay that way. What's going to be bad is if he comes back and plays this season and has a crappy season. What did that prove? He went out being pretty much on top, why take the chance of ruining that?

If he can still get it done, more power to him. If the Packers don't want him they should release him and let him suit up for another team. Not doing so looks badly on a franchise he's bled for. Not a Packers fan, but a huge Favre fan. He's a stud.

How do I feel? That ain't easy to describe.

Selfishly? I'm happy I get to see him play more. He got me some decent fantasy points last year, too. And I can't imagine a Favre-less Green Bay. He's the Iron Man of the NFL. I'm pretty psyched.

Objectively? I don't think he came out of this looking very good. I think a lot of folks lost some respect for the guy. It's part of his history now, and that's too bad.

Personally? I'm with Get Gone up there - I think he's likely to end up being just another pro athlete who played too long and stayed too long and ends up being sort of sad and uncomfortable to watch. Hope I'm wrong, and after his year last year its sure possible.

But man, he picked a good time to retire. Maybe he'll win it all this year and quit for real.

Speaking as one who grew up 90 minutes from Lambeau (less, now that the divided highway up to the thumb is nearing completion and one can go faster for some good stretches and not get trapped behind rubbernecking "tourons" for miles on end), the Packer administration is looking worse in the eyes of many. My folks and the Cheesehead crowd they hang with are pretty disgusted by the way the suits have handled things.

I am with you JK. I love Brett but I was kind of glad he retired after a great season and not all banged up (or worse). He was better last year than in a number of the previous years. If he comes back gun slinging this year he may end up with 20 plus int's. Whatever he does, I hope he comes our healthy.

When he was younger, he beat the Bears a lot but he was always the one Packer that I enjoyed watching. I even secretly wanted him to win the Super Bowl the first time.
I guess, since the Bears do not use a quarterback in their "offense" it was always fun to watch Brett and imagine what it would be like if the Bears threw passes to wide receivers.
Classy guy, incredible talent, weird retirement, weirder name.

I am so freaking tired of hearing his name. I cant listen to sports radio or ESPN anymore or I will vomit. I personally have no interest either way, but I think it sucks that they booed Rogers...like it is HIS fault that Favre can't make up his mind. What is he supposed to say? "Oh great and wonderful Brett, I worship you so of course I dont mind riding the pine another year or two or however long you desire to play"

I'm not saying you're wrong, but just what should the suits have done? I think they were put in a no win situation. If they give him his job back and they win it all, everything is great. But what if they don't win? Then he retires again and you're left with a kid who doesn't know what to think and you're set back a few years.

Playing his cards just right would have been to either retire or not retire.

Favre has lost thousands of fans who now see him as just another personality like T.O. and Chad Johnson.

Favre is a drama queen. He could not handle not being the center of attention. Favre = Paris Hilton? Yeah... I'll go along with that.

It will be interesting to see him get crushed to the turf while leading the #2 offense in a pre-season game and then start questioning his commitment once again. Or start blaming his blocking or the management.
