What is the best software to use with my new Garmin 305? I would like to create courses from scratch and upload them to the Garmin to use on a workout or if I'm planning on going to a new city so I don't get lost, or a trail run so I don't make a wrong turn. Is there a way to trace a race course design a virtual partner to run at my desired miles splits and upload the files to the Garmin to help pace myself at a race?
Any advice would be appreciated. |

I think I figured out the course part: - I drew a course with this program: http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/draw/ - Saved it as a .GPX file. - Used this Program: http://forums.motionbased.com/smf/index.php?topic=2088.from1143353869;topicseen (GPX2CRS) to convert the .GPX file to a .CRS file. Then uploaded the course to the Garmin. |

| Totally not what you are asking, but I love SportTracks - it is free and provides excellent analysis of the data from your Garmin - I don't know that it can do what you are asking - it may, I just have never had the need to do that! |

Too bad I didn't check RA this morning - I spent most of the morning figuring out how to get a course onto my Garmin.
I got a GPX file from a friend for a race course I want to check out, and I wound up turning it into a CRS file by uploading it to MotionBased and then downloading as a CRS. By the time I figured out how to actually get it onto the watch it was handy to have the CRS available - that was just a random side effect. |

This is awesome. I'm doing a 20 mile run and was worried about running on some forest roads/trails and getting lost. I just created a course and uploaded it to the Forerunner. We'll see how it works on Sunday |
