You win...
I have a RockHopper too! Switched out the knobby tires for road tires. Only problem - roads here are a gritty mess - wet and sandy - my ride time is shorter than the time it takes to clean my bike after
Glad an end is in site for your move date.

Frogpedaling is exactly as it sounds. When you pedal your knees should be coming down in a relatively straight line not out to the side on the up stroke. If at any point you find yourself resembling a sitting, frog, your seat height is too low. I said at LEAST 2". 2" is as close as you want to get to your barracks. As DID said, mountain bikes come in all different angles for top tubes. Just make sure you have good bike shorts.
