A Saucy Wench
So about 10 days ago I slipped and landed on some concrete steps. Nice bruise across my ass (and NO this thread is NOT useless without pics). It's healing at about the rate you would expect. However about 3 inches above the bruise (right at the ridge where I guess you would say ass becomes back) , there is an area that never discolored, is still really damn swollen and still is so painful to the touch I cant drive the car that has lumbar support.
Earlier in the week I was able to run with bruise feeling pain. Today I got sharp pains about 15 minutes in to an easy run.
Can't get in to my doctor for TWO WEEKS. What the hell?
Is this worth shelling $100 for ER Xrays or should I just be patient. (Yeah I know, it's stupid to ask advice here- but I cant get in to SEE my F'in doctor)

If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be. I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila
If you got the x-rays, what would you do with them? I don't mean that sarcastically.
If its not broken suck it up and keep running.
But what if you misread it?
You cant say you dont mean sarcasm and then use sarcasm.
I have a bruise on my lower leg -- let's call it from knee to ankle, along the shinbone. Picture me sticking my leg out a bit, and you swinging a shovel as hard as you can into the inside of the lower leg and shinbone. (or driving a car bumper into it..) Creates a nasty deep bone bruise.
The discoloration went away over 2 months, but it is still painful to the touch, 5 months later. So these bone bruises apparently can take a long time to slowwwwly get better.
mta: They used MRI on my leg rather than x-ray, telling me that impact created trauma that doesn't break the bone is not well visualized on x-ray.

Tell him you can find another doctor in less than 2 weeks.
I would have it looked at.

Yes, get it checked. When I was in High School I fell on an icey ski slope - right on my right butt cheek. Huge bruise. It was bad enought that it swelled and a bunch of fluid built up. To this day, the area can still be painful if I fall on it or sit on it just right. A friend of mine is an orthopedist and he said if I had sought medical advise, they might have drained some of the fluid and I might not have any residuals from it. Anyway, if I ever have a similar experience, I would have it checked by an MD. It would suck if it became a long term problem, especially if there is treatment that would prevent that.
I don't have anything about the two week delay. That sucks. Maybe throw in a "do you know who I am?" blast when you talk to the scheduling assistant. Just a thought.
I look my best blurry!
Pictures would be helpful. It's all speculation until we see.
I'm sure you mean the radiographic pics and not a pic of her bruised butt. I think you should save the $100 bucks and wait for your appointment. It probably needs a couple days regardless of whether it is broken or not. However having said that, I am a VERY impatient woman and would never be able to do that myself. I'd have my bruised butt in the ER for the X-ray. Sad but true.
If it were me... which it was about a week and a half ago when I slipped on some ice coming down some porch steps of a customer's home I was inspecting and came down on my backside on the steps... I would go to the chiropractor. Sounds like you're having pain more from your lower lumbar/sacrum area now which an adjustment may help. If it doesn't.... don't go back. Mine did. They could xray it was well beforehand. This, of course, assumes you have a chiropractor that you trust. I do. I did not have any bruising. Though, I did not inspect my ass. Nor did anyone else. *sigh*
Last I checked the lower lumbar wasn't 5 inches to the left of my spine

I'm sure this is somehow better than socialized medicine. It has got to be. Cuz it is 'merican.
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.
Poor baby
