    21:13; season's worst.  Dang.

Hit 19:58 on the TM today.  I know, the TM, but still very encouraging for me.
Always one more, you're never satisfied
Never one for all, only one for me
So why draw the line, meet you half the way
If you don't know what that means

Look at your body of work you are putting together, though, Nader.  You'll get there.

mr train you are a pain, your words - they make me go insane

they strike my ever-thinking brain like little drops of acid rain

oh, to my life you are a bane; crazy, mixed up, mr train - r2e

OK, I'm officially out of the sub 20 thread, which I was secretly in, and in the sub 6mpm thread. This morning I squeezed out a disappointing 18:57 in my first 5k of the season.  I just fell apart.  Despite being my slowest 5k in 2 years, it was about right given my recent 10 mile race performance.  I think increasing miles (heck I'm struggling in the 40s) caught up with my legs as they were heavy  and just had no go at all.  It's a long frustrating road back from injury...
"Only a few more laps to go and then the action will begin, unless this is the action, which it is."

          I look my best blurry!

I had no idea that I belonged here.  I was lurking and dreaming about it and it just happened out of the blue.  19:20 today.  My last PR a few weeks ago(on a very difficult course) was 21:00.  How did I do this?  IDK, ask Nobby.  He gets the credit.
Wow!  Congratulations - thats an enormous PR!

Kristen--you're being too kind.  Actually Grahm is the one who should get credit.  It was his accident that put you off training a little bit to "taper".  Okay, maybe I'll take just a little bit of credit for the final couple of days of workouts but, as I told you before, you had it in your already.  All I did was to get it out of you.

Please!  Stress, worry, tears, sleepless nights!  That was noooo boost! I manged to keep running to handle the stress.  That darn kid threw me into the fire for a few days.  I didn't post pics of my swollen eyes, but I had them.  And a broken heart.   He is doing great, thank goodness.  Out on his inline skates, on quarter pipe with his nose splint and temporary tooth, as I type.

Extraordinary job, Kristen!  Your name here is starting to become an inside joke, and that's a really good thing?

Have you thought about your next goal yet?

                      Hey, nice racing, supermom.
                      Thanks, Traino. We'll see.

Kristen - any idea on your mile splits for the 5K? Did you have a negative split? I am curious of how you ran the race - STRATEGY!!! It can be helpful for others as I believe smart racing is so key!!

19:20 5K equates to a 3:05 marathon.  Yes, that is ambitious. Maybe next year for that time as you continue to build.

Well, I've been lurking this thread for awhile leading up to this years race season in hopes of a sub 20 5k at a flat course the second week of July.

I ran my first one of the year last thursday on a course with some rolling hills and ended up finishing 19:26!

                            1 x 6:15

                            1 x 6:15

                            1 x 6:30

                            .12 x 5:36

Downhill finish helped out a bit!  I wanted to stop by and encourage everyone in here to keep trying and you'll get there!  I increased my mileage and followed the mantra "mostly slow sometimes fast" with good results.  Next goal is sub 6/mi pace.

                            Good luck to everybody!

Try #2 this year for me today.  21:01 overall time.  I am ok with it considering my previous time was 21:55 in mid-April.  So almost a minute off my previous....but still a long way to go.  Today's race was all through neighborhoods and so it had a lot of turns in addition to significant traffic for me at the start.  Believe it or not I did run a 19:58 5K on the TM a week ago, but again, on the TM.....I will try again sometime soon.  Just sucks to improve that much, but still have so much more to go....plus I feel like maybe I could have done a little better (my Garmin said my time was 20:53???)  As always I keep moving forward....except when I Cha-cha

I still haven't actually run a 5k since starting thinking about this. My first one is likely to be early August.

However, yesterday I went through the 5k point in my 10k at 21.19 - a 36s PR.  Sub 20 still seems a long way off.  But sub 21 would seem to be on the cards now.
