Just today the following gems have come from my son's mouth:
[pulling an empty albuterol inhaler from the trash] Dane: Why is this in the trash? Me: Because it's empty. Dane: Well, we should put air in it so you can breathe.

When I grow up I want to be a vampire bat.

When I grow up I want to grow flowers and make bouquets (this after we dropped $150+ at the local garden center on stuff for the yard, then he proceeded to pick lilly of the valley and forget-me-nots growing wild in the yard).

[picking up a penny at the garden center] Look, mom, it's my bank account!

Hmmm...now I'm wondering about my kid's apparent taste for blood with the vampire bat comment. A week or so ago we had steak and I cooked it my usual med. rare...he was licking a piece and saying "ooh, bloody." Then he was very impressed with the pink puddle under his pieces of meat. Heh, my little carnivore....

Children are so cute when they act like that ! Kind of makes a parent want to sleep with one eye open. *lol* One of my little beasts use to crawl around chasing June Beetles and then he would catch them in his mouth...ICK!!! I learned to watch for signs of a successful hunt and then I'd rush over to fetch out the squirming thing and throw it far outside.

Yeah...I'll definitely be sleeping with one eye open if his canines get longer...
Speaking of June bugs...we had a cat growing up that had a "taste" for them. Unfortunately they didn't sit well with him, so he'd yak them up on my bed. I can STILL recall that horrendous odor! |

Flipping through channels with my 4.5yo daughter the other day. Landed on VH1 Classic. They were showing the Rolling Stones circa 1968 playing "You Can't Always Get What You Want."
My daughter saw Mick Jagger and said, "Who's that girl?"
I explained that he was a man and sometimes men have long hair.
Then she said, "He's got big lips."
I didn't have a follow-up for that one. |
