Forums >Look What I Can Do!>I won a race for the first time in my life.
I won a 10k this weekend in 35:19. This is the first race I have ever won. I've been in the top 5 in a few races but never flat out won a race. This was a PR for me in the 10k, granted I was a mid-d guy in college so I've only ran a hand full of 10k's, but I ran right on my goal pace of 5:40 per mile and felt like I had plenty in the tank at the finish and plan to run 15 miles today. I feel my training is right on pace for my marathon in January.
2012 Goals:
Ice Breaker Marathon: Sub 2:50 2:53:19.71
Grandma's Marathon: Sub 2:45
Twin Cities: Sub 2:40

Find some smaller races. At your speed, you'll place in most of them. Congrats!

Wooooooooohoooooooooo! Very awesome!
I've never won. Highest finish ever was 3rd overall this year. I have held the lead in 2 races. It is a very strange feeling pulling away but it didn't last.
I need shorter races.

Sweet - 35:19 is a really nice 10k.
I think you are ahead of pace for Ice Breaker. I have run it a couple of times

Fun, ain't it? My lone win was a small 5k, I even had a bicycle escort taking me through the course. It's a very cool thing to experience.
