Yeah, I want to do OKC too.

    Giddyup.

I have it on good authority that Oklahoma is OK.

      Ultima tastes like failure.

        OK then!

I don't know how I missed this one.  I was on my honeymoon when this thread started (which took me along the Blue Ridge Parkway)  I am already signed up for another half that weekend and just heard about this race today.  It's only a 10 hour drive, maybe I could do both (or maybe I should save my money for other ventures)  If I did run it, I would have to do the marathon though, since that looks to be the more challenging course.  I don't think the 10 hour drive back would make for a good half marathon trail run the next day.  I hope they have this one next year too.

Choosing races based on hilly they are? I do just the opposite.

            You people freak me out.

Wow.  That does look tough.  I always thought "hitting the wall" was that point when your body runs out of gas.  It looks like there may be an actual wall in mile 26.

I'm planning on doing sort of the opposite run this summer.I am going to start at Richland Balsam (highest point on the parkway at just over 6,000ft) and run into Cherokee. This will end up being about 41 miles with a lot of elevation change but a substantial decrease overall. I didn't necessarily pick this section because it is mostly downhill but I want to run 40 on my 40th and wanted to end in the Smokey's for a camp out with friends.

A long time ago I was at the House of Guitars.  I entered a drawing for a guitar that I had absolutely no interest in owning (even though I do play guitar).  I said when I entered something like "If I win I'll turn around and sell it right back to them."

I won the drawing.  I kept the guitar for years and never played it.  I finally did sell it.

Please return to the original topic now.  Smile
