Today I ran 12 miles in honor of each year that I have been a mother and while running I was thinking about being a mom/runner.
.
I appreciate moms that are teaching by their example. As a mom-runner, you teach your kids every important lesson there is to learn in life. They learn about perseverance, goal-setting, and consistency as they watch you head out the door day in and day out. So, please don't every feel bad for taking the time to run. There is no better gift you can give your child than having a mom that sets goals and works to achieve them.

Be proud of what of you are doing! And don't hesitate to make room on that mini-van for YOUR stickers.

Happy Mother's Day to you, too!

My biggest present today was DH and my two younger children running a 5k race with me and 2100 other people. What fun! My 13-year-old son was grumpy before the race, but he was in a great mood afterwards. He's not a natural runner, but he tries hard. You're right, Andreia - I know that if I didn't run, he definitely wouldn't be!

Adding on to what you said, I want to encourage you husbands who have YOUNG children to do whatever you can to help your wives run. It will help them SO much, even if it is a strain on your family for now. I wish I had run when my kids were little.

Don't forget we are also teaching our kids about healthy lifestyles (and the hard work that goes with being fit and healthy), competing even if we will never "win," and good sportsmanship. Smile

Happy Mother's Day, girls! Smile

Loved the post! (as I do tend to feel guilty for my running time). Happy Mother's Day to all! Enjoy your day.
