Forums >Off the Beaten Path>Christmas Eve - what's on the menu?
The grass fed rump roast has been cooking for SIX hours with an hour to go.
It's KILLING me in here. The smell is awesomeness.
Just finished some adult cocktails and will be working toward wine.
Will finish with scotch and opening Christmas cards.
Merry Ho Ho!

Not sure how this tradition started but my husband makes sushi for Christmas Eve. Always yummy and fun!

Two things:
1. Sushi is awesome ANYTIME.
2. Wait. Your husband M A K E S sushi? Oh my!
Are we there, yet?
Tonight it's a combination of leftover pork in Teriyaki sause, fresh salad, and mashed potatoes while I relax in solitude and maybe listen to Christmas music later. Tomorrow I'll bake myself meatloaf, potatoes, some kind of veggies, and salad. I'll also make homemade Chex mix which I will snack on all day and the rest of the week as long as it lasts.

He is a wonderful and talented man!
And yes sushi is awesome anytime!
Lets see, left over boiled egg. Blueberry pancakes. Bowl of cereal.
For dessert? Glogg.
Turkey's brining and corm bread's in the oven (for cornbread sausage dressing tomorrow).
We do festive nibbles on Christmas Eve. This year, we did several kinds of cheese, three breads, grapes, and since we're in Finland local salmon, bear sausage, and reindeer (yeah--sorry, kids!). Also gloggi and gingerbread cookies.
Ham today for Christmas Day.
Hyvää joulua!
Hopefully take out...as my cupboards are bare, but I'm not even sure if there are any restaurants open around me!
No take out...DH brought home ingredients for mac and cheese, yay! He makes the best mac and cheese.
