El Scorcho 25k/50k - Who's in? (Read 1034 times)

More Cowbell!

I'll get there around 11pm. Looking forward to meeting all ya'll. This is me... - Goatee
If you are currently sans goatee, then that would actually be a picture of your evil twin, would it not?

    20th Century: Is ancient history
    21st Century: 5k: 19:42 |10k: 43:00

We're both evil, but I shaved off the goatee to fit in amongst the good. Wink

It's not the heat, it's the stupidity.

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

        OK, it looks like: there_is_no_path - 50k - Marshall
I'm not sure what I'll be doing. Since I've started running, I've been focusing on shorter distances at a faster pace (for me) so I don't think I'll be doing the 50k. I'll probably pick up my packet, do some miles (maybe 25k) and then head home. For what it's worth, here's a picture of me:
"Long-distance runners have to be very strange people. You have to really want to do it. You don't have to win or beat someone, you just have to get through the thing. That's the sense of victory. The sense of self-worth."
        ~Ted Corbitt
Umm, I'm not on the entrants list, and I can't find any record in my e-mail or my checkbook that I ever registered for this race! I must have registered in my dreams. So I guess I won't be there. Happy running! Cool

Oops. Contact the head dude over there to see if you can still sign up.

Lynn, are you going to be carrying a camera along during the race?

Lynn, are you going to be carrying a camera along during the race?
Probably not, but will have it handy for photo opps...may carry it for a loop or two.

That's too bad, Marshall. We'll have to catch up with you at another race soon.

Well, I went to the Double Dave's get together last night. Summary -Everyone introduced themselves -Safety First 3 Physicians on staff If you get pulled, you are pulled for good. Everyone should make sure you drink more than water (get your electrolytes). A city electrician will be on hand to make sure the lights are working They secured 3 portapotties, in addition, to those already out there. These will be locked up till things start. -You can run further than 25K, if you signed up for the 25k, but the timing chip will stop after 25K -Upper Part of Course changed slightly -Dude who was turning 30 on Monday will not actually be running in the race! (He's helping coordinate) -Packets weren't given out because they only received XS and S shirts. Folks who need larger shirts will be able to pick them up in a week or they'll be mailed out. Only real thing... I got was that I should use a wet sponge with ice atop my head underneath my hat to keep cool. I will be bringing out my new 305 for it's first test drive. I'll see you all tonight.

I hear that the RD is bailing and is not going to run...true?

I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

                        We've Got Big Hills

Dude sets a goal. Very publically. And gets 200 people and a bunch of volunteers to help him make that goal. And then he drops out? Not because he is injured. Not because he is ill. But because he is afraid that his volunteers can't run the thing without him? You know, I organized a race to set a tough goal. People told me that if I was going to subject them to the Hell that is the Monkey, I was going to take that poison right there with them. Folks did not give me a choice. It was either die on the course of die in the lynching that followed the marathon. (plus, I had AWESOME volunteers and I was delighted to place my faith in them) Just sayin.

I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.

                              Good work fellas!

Hey, thanks for posting that TIM! (that's right, you've been outed!). It was great meeting you guys. I was disappointed that once the thing started, I think I only saw Bonkin once, and never saw modal or tschepsit again! Sorry about the vomitosis, modal! For those who don't know, the temps starting out were in the mid 80's and I think the humidity musta' been in the mid 180's! It was one of those where your sweat sweats...absolutely NO evaporation, only sweating! I would like to have run faster, started out on track and derailed about half way. I have enough experience to know how to get the train back on the tracks, but it took about twice as long to get through loop 6 as it should have while I was letting the Ensure/S-Caps/Mountain Dew/Advil coctail kick in...after that I did some good running, but took my time to visit with some of the NTTR peeps. I finished the 50K in about 5:50, well short of my PR, but I still had a blast! I hope to meet up with you guys again at a future event! Lynn B
