After marathon...and some basic refueling at finish line... and after I bailed on the massage line.

I met up with my running club. I ate a power bagel and pb... cookies... cofee... water...

Epsom salt soak when I got home and I felt pretty good. Took a nap and when I woke up the soreness had set in. I was stiff... sore... walking up and down steps was just painfull.

Went out to dinner with the family... Ate like crazy.

Woke up this morning and I am super sore. Was not sure if I was going to be able to carry a bowl of cereal down the steps into my family room to watch tv with my breakfast. (I made it)

Then I got myself together and went out and cut some grass. The walking helped. I realized how much my right foot hurts on the top or the bone by the big toe. I think it might be tendon tenderness. There is swelling too. One of my heels also was tender will I cutting grass but I forget which one. I then tried to run a bit on my tredmill as rain was threatening. Wanted to do a mile or two real slow to get the soreness out. Managed about a 1/4 of a mile before I decided the pain in my left foot waranted me stopping.

Going to hit a hot tub tonight... perhaps I'll ice down my foot at some point as well... Oh a few more things to note...

I had a slight fever last night... I took some ibuprophen (600 mg) more for the slight headache I felt coming on.

Also I resumed my consumption of Raisins this morning approx 20 of them after my breakfast.

Good God- they made you run on concrete ? ! I live about 1.5 hrs south of Cleveland. It was funny because I was thinking about a complete stranger (YOU) during the day when it was pouring down rain and cold. As usual, the idiots in Cleve TV managed a whole 10 sec shot of the race on the news. All they said was the top male finished at 2.5hr(?) and the women at 3 ?? (Not sure on times.) They couldn't even name those two that came in first. That's sad, especially if it was some local guy and gal. Welcome to N.E. unorganized Ohio.

Great job on your time. Very inspirational. I've only been running with a plan for about 10 weeks (C25K) and when I think how tough it is for me, I try to remember that ppl run marathons. I figure you had to start somewhere, so that helps me mentally.

Goal:weight to healthy range 220>>172 now (work in progress)
5K 27:14 June 28,2008- first race (3rd in age group)

HM PR: just a fleeting thought right now
26.2 PR: maybe in 2 years?

I started running in the end June 2006... my goal was to run a 10 minute mile. It took me a couple weeks but I eventually built up to one 10 minute mile on a tread mill... which was an all out effort. since then I have run regularly with one 3 week layoff. Dec 06

You are right... you have to start somewhere.

Here is my garmin data

NOTE: if you use my finish time (chip time)... the last .36 was at a 7:02 pace... but since I didn't hit stop until a few second... ???? minute??? after the finish line... 2:32 vs 3:11... so 39 seconds

  • Win my age group at 1/2 marathon

Great job. Looks like you did really well with your pacing. Make sure you take it easy the next several weeks so you avoid injury.

Congratulations.
