STRESSED OUT!!!! (Read 280 times)

Well it was almost 3 weeks ago we had our 3rd child and 1st girl...So, that cut into my running. Next my work had a department move into a new warehouse and office...since I work for all departments...I was put in charge of the office move and help oversee the warehouse move...We opened for business on Monday, but MANY hours have been put into that move over the last 2 weeks. Once Again, this cut into my running time.

Then the kicker comes on Saturday. I was moving inventory into our warehouse on Saturday, my son was playing in an All-Star Tournament about an hour away. My wife called at 4 pm and said they made it to the championship game to be played at 6pm. I went home and got ready and got to the park about 5:45, but my wife wasn't there. I called her and she said she wasn't feeling well and went to Wal-Mart. Then she called back and said she was in the van watching the game. Then she called again to come get the baby that she needed to go to the restroom. Then a friend of ours comes running up to me about 10 minutes later saying that my wife was in trouble. They cleared out the ladies restroom and I go in...there is blood everywhere...she is in and out of consiousness. She was hemoraging from the childbirth 2 weeks prior. Something about the placenta leaves scar tissue and basically the tissue came off and add to that...she had not fully contracted back from the childbirth. My wife was literally bleeding to death in the womens restroom at the baseball park.

The ambulance came...in the ER she was given countless bags of fluids and 2 units of blood. Her blood count was 7 and 22. The ER doc told me "She is on thin ice." Her blood pressure bottomed out. She finally got stable enough and our OBGYN actually called my cell phone when he heard about it...and told the ER doc to get her stable and get her back at our hometown hospita under his carel. We came home Monday and she is just now feeiling back to normal...but once again...NO RUNNING.

I am so thankful b/c this could have turned out different. I was so proud of her OBGYN...he left 6 messages on my wife's phone and somehow got my number and reached me. He was TRULY concerned.

I haven't been on in a few weeks and thought I would just give an update.

Wow! That's frightening. I'm glad everything worked out.
Just think how good it will feel when you do get out for that run; sounds like you might need to burn off some built up stress.

There were 2 women in there helping, we didn't even know one of them. I thank God for both of them, no telling how bad it could have gotten if she passed out in that restroom and noone would have known. Also, the tournament director cleared out everything so the ambulance could get there quickly and get out...that also helped tremendously to getting her to the ER so she could begin to get blood.

The OBGYN called our home hospital and had them put us in the same labor and delivery suite that we were in just 2 weeks prior, and he ordered them to let the baby stay with us. Which took alot off my wife's mind, knowing the older ones were with grandparents and the baby was with us.

Our team...if they would have lost...she would have been driving home with 3 small children in the car at the exact time she passed out in that restroom.

So much went wrong, but so many people stepped up and did the right thing and are still doing it.

Every day since we have been home, while I am at work, two teenage girls have been atlernating coming to the house and watching the kids, cleaning, etc...at no charge. Their parents WILL NOT let us pay them. Our church has brought food for every meal all week to make sure we are taken care of.

So many people have done more than expected and deserved. It has really touched and humbled me.

Wow, my heart stopped when I started reading your story. I think there were a few angels watching over your wife and kids. Did the doctor say how long it will take her to recover?

Oh, wow. Glad your wife is ok and that you had help. And those parents sending their teenagers over to help - that just restores my faith in humanity. Community and family helping out. Very cool.

Sorry things have been so stressful! I hope they calm down soon. Well, as much as it's possible to have 'calm' when you have an infant at home. Smile

Oh my goodness. What a frightening chain of events. I'm so glad your wife is alright now. This is stress on another level from the ordinary for sure. Thank God for the good samaritans in your life and the angels that helped on that day. Just hold your family close to you and be glad it all turned out okay. Then, once you finally get that chance - run your heart out!

    Take care.
