I just wanted to point out that an interesting article was published yesterday in the NY Times about the effects of running on aging. Dr. Vonda Wright, a professor of orthopedics at the University of Pittsburgh, recently performed a research study to find out what happens to people who keep training as they get older or begin competing in middle age. They found that you can stave off 'deterioration', and that some of the physiological factors needed for a good performance are not much affected by age.

This is good news for 'old' 44 year old fogies like me who picked up running later in life...
