Also, flat laces come untied a lot less requently than round ones.

seriously, my shoes keep coming untied at least 3-4 times on every run. I've tried both the 'round the tree way and the bunny-ear way, and neither seems to make any difference. Any shoe-tyin' experts out there?
Try these (

)
I will never go back. They don'tpress too hard on the top of the foot like laces sometimes do, they don't loosen throughout a long run, and after a run, you can easily slip them off without ruining your shoes (I am lazy and neglect to untie my shoes - then wreck them by taking them off 'boot style')
Best of all, they don't come undone. For $10 they last through a few pairs of shoes. You'll never go back to laces.

You have got to be kidding me. The seventh wonder of the world this guy is.........
If your shoe came untied during a race you would never hit your PR if you used the "Loop to Loop shoelace knot"

Double-knotting has always worked for me, but I don't run the distances some of you guys run. I am definitely going to start using the
"runners knot"
from the RuntoWin site. And
Ian's Shoelace Site
is pretty amazing, I have to say...talk about someone with a ton of free time...or maybe no free time because he's always hard at working on his shoe lace web site???

Well I was going to say I just tuck the ears away before my run, nothing worst than eatting dirk because you triped over your laces and your 5 miles away from home all cut up and in pain! BUT NOW I went to that awesome sight and I will probably tuck the ears still but it's Ian's secure knot for me!
I swear by Ian's secure knot! I've been using it for about two years now, and do not have problems with shoes coming untied.
I also use it to hold up my scrub pants, because it doesn't loosen easily.
Also, it looks prettier than a regular not.

I haven't had a shoe come untied for years, since I started using this knot:

(includes video)
I have been using Run 2 Win's method since he posted it to his site. Works great for me. It has only come untied twice. Both times during the same 1/2 marathon. It must have been something going on with my fingers that day to not be able to tie my shoe.

Bringing this thread back from the dead for a moment.
I tried a new way of lacing my shoes today. It's the leftmost one:
http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Lace_Your_Shoes
My run SUCKED!! My legs killed me, and I was forced to go amazingly slowly to make it through my 30 minute planned run without stopping.
Who knew just lacing style could have such an effect? Back to the way I've always done it.

I"ve been doing the Surgeon's Shoe Lace Knot from this site for a while now, never had my shoe come untied, it is easy to tie and untie. Definitely a thumb's up!
