I have best success with Endurox, its a dextrose based drink, and have also use maltodextrin drinks if I am feeling a little weak. I also take whey protein shakes when I need some extra calories, make sure that they are predigested wheys which make it easy on your system to absorb.

I just started drinking muscle milk a chocolate, vanilla or strawberry powdered drink with lots of nutrients that promotes lean muscle mass. It has a fat burner and I drink one or two cups a day. Tastes real good. I think it is helping with the abdomen fat. I just started running today after walking for one month. I am going to gradually get into the swing of running frequently and build mileage and time running. Yes Yes Smile
