I pick up penny's all the time. And I broke a mirror when I was 7 or so, and I don't think it caused me bad luck.

"Running is a big question mark that's there each and every day. It asks you, 'Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?'" - Peter Maher
"Running long and hard is an ideal antidepressant, since it's hard to run and feel sorry for yourself at the same time. Also, there are those hours of clearheadedness that follow a long run." -Monte Davis

WAIT!
Only take ground pennies that are head side up.
Taking a tail side up penny is BAD luck.
Turn it over so that it is head side up for the next finder.
Good mojo, there.
And once again Mr. Wizard (aka: Stevie Ray) explains the internet.

My step daughter knows all those rules too!
If I see one that tails, I flip it over .. .then point it out to my kid, who grabs it. Is that bad luck, good luck, or no luck?
Let me type this for you real slowly: Gaming the system! Gaming the system!
Idiot
HA!
Yes, I do "run in this." So should you. The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.
Yeah, but I'm not gaming it for my own benefit. That should count for something, karmically.
Karmaically.
Karmacly.
Vis-à-vis karma.
You are trying to architect good fortune for your kid. Very admirable.
Unless kid is a co-conspirator. Then the karma involved is suspect.
Maybe.
I am not the arbiter of karma. "Does this count as a race in the maniacs?" yes, but not karma.
It's at the cross of route 48 and 35 in Wisconsin. Near the Butternut Lakes, you can't miss it.
But Och! I backward cast my e'e, On prospects drear! An' forward, tho' I canna see, I guess an' fear!
Yes. He play's QB for Stanford and we will be subject to a decade of awful puns and sports witticisms based on his name when he gets drafted in the NFL next year.
The process is the goal.

I think you mean: Intelligent Design.
Fate, Fortune, Lot, Chance, destiny.
Common sayings:
Tough luck, hard luck, blind luck, beginners luck, Best of luck, out of luck, wish me luck, push one's luck... These are common, everyday phrases used in our society. Very odd.
