shit shit shit. We have had really cold weather. My run this morning was 46 degrees. Now the forecast for my HM on saturday is 73 and sunny. I know it sounds whiny because many of you would LOVE 73 and sunny, but could I have had at least a week to acclimate before my race? Plus the forecast has been going up a degree every day.

I'm sure not used to this kind of weather yet. I just got back from a 9.3 mile run; the thermometer says 92, and the weather channel said humidity was 60%. The worst part about it is that last week it was rainy and cool, and on Friday I was even sitting around in a sweatshirt because it was so chilly. All I want is just a little acclimation period, is that so unreasonable?!

As much as I hate getting up and running first thing in the morning, I began the AM runs this morning at 6:00AM so I could avoid the heat. Now it is noon (my preferred time to run and its 95 degrees and the humidity is so high that you can see the water in the air - when you breath in, you almost drown) so I am glad that I did go out this AM. I live in Massachusetts, so I wonder what it must be like today in Gerogia or Mississippi where it's really hot and humid....

Man, it was 80 when I went out for a run at 5:30 this morning. Horrible. Felt like I was running under water.
Awe, the horror !

I hope lower humidity is headed your way...it is GORGEOUS here today! My lungs feel worlds better (too bad my legs have swapped places complaining for my run). We have not a cloud in the sky and the humidity is very comfortable. It finally doesn't feel like everything in the house is wet (we don't have central air, so when the humidity is high the floors and walls feel sticky. Gross).

OH, me too. It's suppose to break tomorrow. We live in sort of a cape codish house. The basement is freezing, the main flloor is ok, the top floor/bedroom is hotter than haddes. One good thing, we have no cats this year and can keep our bedroom door closed (to keep it a bit cooler) Funny thing, you could never close the door when we had cats. Next cat, we'll have to make a cat door so it can go in and out. Little buggers!

How do you breathe...seriously? That kind of heat with that kind of humidity and my lungs would seize up.
It's all relative. Are heat index has been hitting >105 the past few days. I've cut back some but have kept running.
On the flips side, I start to complain in the winter if it dips below 45 here in NC. That's like beach weather to you northerners.

It was only 103F here in SC today--cooler than the last several days. My 11AM 4.2 was fine.
Yeah, we wear our winter coats below 60F. We always wonder how the tourists can get in the water at the beach while we have layers on to keep warm!

Ha, no kidding. 45 is ideal running weather...I love that. Don't mind below freezing temps too much, either, as long as winds aren't high and footing is not too slippery with ice.

I also got up at 5:30 today to beat the heat. Did a reasonably easy 3 mile run, got the DD breakfast and off to school for both of us. First period of the day and I start to shake and sweat and feel rather miserable. I forgot to eat my own breakfast! How could I forget that fuel is just as important as water? A Luna bar later I was back in form...
But heat doesn't really bother me!

Agree! 45 is just about perfect. Along with 65-70 with a light mist. Nice. I don't mind the cold as long as my nose doesn't stick together!
PS , Kirsten , love the phrase "Furry Bastards" And those furry bastards love the heat. My old cat Basil would practially try to sit inside the woodstove. Her little ears would roast. What a goof-a-saur !

I just got back from Ohio where the weather wonks were saying "muggy and hot" when it was 72 and 65% humidity. Back in S. Fl. - it was 90's with 95% humidity today. Now that's humid! Hey, it's like crosstraining - you can swim and run at the same time!

Ha...when we have really hot weather our dumb cats go upstairs where it is usually at least 10º warmer. Weirdos.
