    Old Threads

After watching everyone graduate last year but the thread starter (moi), I thought I'd throw it up again after I ran 32:07 for 8k on Sunday.  I was confined to the pool and elliptical in November and just got back to my usual mpw in the last month, so I was surprised to do as well as I did.  I think sub-40 is doable this year and you have to play to win so I'm throwing it out there as a goal.
I am in again, targeting the Marin 10k in May.  Last year, I missed by 19 sec.

I'm looking at Pike's Peak on 25 April.  I'm torn though because it's a net downhill course and I'd hate to have to caveat my sub-40.  The alternatives all have drawbacks though.

            I'm in.

Hit 40:22 a couple of weeks back and now feel like some race owes me something somewhere.

No target race yet, but one will be found.

Im going to try to break 40 this year.  Lest They Be Forgotten 10k  on May 31 looking like it might be the one.

I'm in for under 40 this year.  Good look to everyone.

                2011 goals [take 1]: 18:36 5k; 39:59 10k; 1:29:00 1/2 marathon; 3:10:00 BQ marathon (2013 standards)
                2011 goals [take 2]: 18:00 5k; 38:30 10k; 1:28:26 1/2 mar; 3:03:00
                2nd life PR's: 19:24 5k / 39:52 10k / 1:27:36 1/2 mar / 3:08:03 marathon

                jules2

Put me down please, I had two sub 41:00's last year the best being 40:47 so surely I can do it this year?

Biggest problem is that my next 10K ( that isn't part of a duathlon ) is the Town and Gown in Oxford in May and the previous two weekends I will have done a half marathon and a national duathlon race.

Already in the sub-38 thread, but that's a pipe-dream for a distance I've never raced before.

I like the idea of baby-steps.  I'm in.  First attempt will be April 10th.

                    Getting Faster!!!

All right, we got quite a crew going here.  I think I've added everyone to the hopefuls list.  I almost put an asterisk next to MoBramExam for "sandbagger" with his 18:37 5k

I added some links to the old threads to the top post.

                          Me.  In.  Again.

Previous PB is 40:30-something, I can't even remember.

Next attempt = May 18 in Regents Park, London.  It's a build up race to a HM.  Good to get your excuses in early, right?

Anyway, I'd be delighted with 39:59.9.  Unless they round up to the nearest second, in which case I'd be seriously undelighted.

I think they round  up in road racing, so let's hope for 39:58.9.

Awesome!  You are officially our first graduate.  And on only ~20 mpw?!  Holy cow.

With 5 seconds to spare their must have been some drama.
