Injured reserve list? (Read 1429 times)

I look my best blurry!

well, at least you know where you are at.  I can't run more than 2 or 3 miles on a treadmill before I start getting discomfort/ache in part of my foot (on the bottom, in the middle, just behind or on the ball of the foot) and I have no idea what it is.  perhaps a stress fracture?  I don't know.  It bothers me when walking uphill sometimes and even just walking on a hard surface barefoot.  I have hardly run in 3 weeks and it's not any better.  sigh...

How long have you had the pain?  Mine started in mid Nov.  I tried to get over it with rest and changing my routine.  It would wax and wane but not go away.  I had an MRI that showed nothing in January.  So I ran.  Pain got worse.  Had another MRI with contrast in Feb and finally found out about the stress fx and other issues.  I don't know if the sfx caused the soft tissue problems or vice versa but I do know I should have stopped running sooner.

GET  IT CHECKED OUT if you don't want to waste time and make things worse.  If I am lucky I will be running well in April.  This started in Nov!  Time is a wasting.  Get healthy and good luck.

These are my new toned arms that I got during my "rest" from running.

      Dang--those are some rockin' arms!

I think I'll go do some push-ups!  I had "twigs" 6 weeks ago, all my life actually.  Glad I have this picture in case they fade away when I start running again.

Maybe you should take up bodybuilding! Nice arms for an 18 yr old!

Well I don't know about that but I have to say I have enjoyed the UE bike!  I am a cardioaholic.  I used 12 lb dumbells, too.  But really, I wannarun.

            Thanks for the compliment.

So my doc-approved day back to regular activities (running!) is April 1. Today I took a very leisurely walk to the a small pond right by the building in which I work. My ankle hurts. Yes, I was in work shoes, but in Merrells (plenty of support). I walked slow. My ankle hasn't had a 'non-sore' day since I injured it. (stress fracture, done on 2/14/10; diagnosed 2/18/10)

So, should I try to get back to a little walking for this week and then go forward from there? My doc was of no help with the basic injury and wasn't even fantastic about dealing with me when I was in last week for sinus issues - and we have a doc shortage here so switching to someone else isn't an option. I'm kind of on my own here.

I miss running so much - but know that if I don't do this right - I may be down for MUCH longer.

              Thanks for your thoughts!

Probably should go see an orthopedic specialist.  Did your stress fx show up on x-ray or did you have an MRI?  I wouldn't be satisfied with the opinion of my primary doc.  Mostly because I am way to competitive to settle for "rest for 6 weeks."  Not that that wouldn't work if you weren't too hyper, like me!
Showed up in a bone scan.

Hmmm....  Never had one of those.

I am doing pretty well.  Running a little more than I should but I don't think it is causing any problems.  I am supposed to only be running 3/4 mile every other day.  I tried to stick with the program but it was killing me because I feel so good.  I have my land legs back.  Don't miss the pool.  I feel better everyday.  I am hoping to be off this list soon.  Not quite there yet but it won't be too much longer.  Off to do some UE biking!  What fun!

                        Just had to do this...

Congrats, wannaberunner, for 1:44 half marathon today.  Of course, Tchuck and I were the ones who told you NOT to even think about running this one after your stress fracture.  Well, guess you proved us wrong.  Just took it easy and negative split and all.

Just take it easy next week though.  Adrenalin can do a lot and you may feel high and feeling good and invincible.  It's the time to be-aware.

                        Still good run!!

Nobby - Kristen  loves the attention especially when it comes to running!  Great  job Kristen. That is a nice time for holdin back!  Stay healthy!!!
