I grew up in Rhodesia, which borders Botswana where I think this footage was shot. The San people used to be called "bushmen" years ago; they are able to eke out an existence in a very arid area, bordering the Kalahari desert. At times they would be eating roots and insects, or much smaller antelope like Thompsons Gazelles or Duikers.
Botswana's economy is largely based on diamond mining and it has several quite modern towns, but the San remain largely unintegrated, following their traditional way of life. Simon. |
